La direttiva europea prevedeva che dal 2010 (un anno dopo l’entrata into force that puts into practice 2005/32/EC), the new devices on the market in Europe in off mode or stand-by should not exceed 1 W of input power, 2 W in standby mode if the need to illuminate a display that gives information. Of course, the devices already in stores before 2010 were entitled to be sold even if old and outdated design.
In 2013, then the limits will be further lowered , halving the threshold and requiring the full shutdown as soon as possible (with different times for each type of equipment). Building devices with these rules will not cost more: we must think only in the planning stage.
Sta quindi ai consumatori fare attenzione – ha dichiarato Andrea Poggio, vicedirettore di Legambiente -, leggere bene le etichette e chiedere informazioni the dealer to avoid being trimmed old equipment. For those who already have at home instead, you should purchase a good "strip" with a switch and remember to turn it off. For the more sophisticated intelligent electrical outlets are then completely off the current when the device remains in standby for more than 2 minutes, and other even more sophisticated and programmable. In short, we must bear in mind that one third of the products sold today are no longer under, while two thirds are not the most in two years and that will be mostly at the expense of our pockets. "
One thing worth mentioning in this regard is that during the eight months of detection carried out by the Polytechnic, did not register any significant improvement of products on the market : improved only 2.6% of the units for the "'off mode" and there was a deterioration of 1.7% for the appliances standby mode. We must therefore assume that little has changed even in 2010.
To shop smart, and eye energy label, now very common for most large kitchen appliances (the so-called "white"), which includes consumption by turned off and has already moved much purchases to the maximum class savings. Speech is completely opposite should be done to the appliances "blacks": stereo, televisions or computers that do not have the obligatory indication of total consumption, while only some companies take - voluntarily - energy efficiency standards, while others have the information on the absorption of power, even in standby.
attention then to those in small and seemingly innocuous as the game: according to the monthly Consumer Choise Australia, Playstation 3 and X-box, which turned off both by absorbing almost the same amount of energy, consuming more than 5 times an efficient refrigerator, and about three times with a worse performance. Leave on, calculating a cost of 0.15 € per kWh, can result in a charge of € 250 per year. Between TV sets, some models with large screen also consumes three times more than a traditional TV, and on standby use in a year as much energy as three washing machines are among the least efficient, leave your computer on 24 hours a day can cost 130 € year, plus another 20 € on even if you leave the speakers and 43 € if you turn off the LCD monitor. The set of speakers for home theater then in standby consumes more than 98 kWh per year, for about 15 € plus bills.
Among the appliances that consume standby often more than 3 watts (three times As the demands of European standard), we find the coffee machines, the speakers low frequency (subwoofer), video recorders with hard drives, modems or routers, the decoder of the TV, stereos, DVD players, televisions , desktop computers, the speakers of computers, laser printers, some battery chargers for phones, some computer monitors, electric cookers, air purifiers and air conditioners, toasters, microwave ovens and electric toothbrushes.
"As well as seeking confirmation of the Polytechnic - said Andrea Poggio - are the new appliances for the home or home office that does not yet have an energy label to escape control. So beware buying rush and discounts apparent that our bills will rise. "
